Close the gap with Cowork.
Microsoft's agentic layer for M365.
You describe the outcome. It runs the work
Cowork in plain English
Cowork is built into Microsoft 365 Copilot. You describe an outcome. It turns the request into a plan and runs it across Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint and OneDrive. It runs on Work IQ, the layer Microsoft uses to ground every action in your real work data.
1
Plans and executes
Turns a single prompt into a multi-step workflow across your M365 apps.
2
Grounded in Work IQ
Reads signals from emails, meetings, files and chats so it acts with real context.
3
Inside your security
Uses your existing M365 permissions, sensitivity labels and audit logs by default.
4
Extensible
Custom skills and plugins let you shape Cowork around your real workflows.
How Cowork will improve the way you work
Skills. Your own shortcuts, built in
Cowork can be taught. Tell it how your brand sounds, how your reports are structured, who signs off what, and it remembers. We've built skills for client onboarding, weekly LinkedIn posts, board packs, you name it.
It knows where your stuff lives
Point it at a SharePoint folder, a OneDrive file, a Teams channel — it reads, summarises and pulls together what you need. No more “which version was the latest one?”
Meetings that wrap themselves up
Cowork sits in your Teams calls, takes the notes, flags the actions, and drops reminder messages to the right people the next morning. The follow-up email writes itself.
Email that triages itself
Daily briefings, draft replies in your voice, flagging the thing buried under twenty newsletters. The inbox starts working for you.

Documents and decks on demand
“Turn this Excel model into a board deck.” “Draft a one-pager for the client.” It does the first version. You do the polishing.

FAQs
What is Copilot Cowork?
Cowork is an agentic layer inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. You describe an outcome and Cowork builds a plan, runs it across your apps and checks in at key points. It uses Work IQ to ground every action in your emails, meetings, files and messages.
How is Cowork different from regular Copilot?
Regular Copilot answers questions and drafts content one prompt at a time. Cowork takes multi-step work off your plate. It plans, executes across apps and pauses for approval before anything sensitive. Microsoft positions it as the move from Copilot answering to Copilot acting.
Do I need a new licence?
Cowork is part of Microsoft 365 Copilot. You need Copilot licences assigned to your users and enrolment in the Frontier preview programme. There's no separate SKU for Cowork itself.
How do I get access?
Your IT admin enables Anthropic models as a sub-processor, joins the Frontier preview programme, and adds the Cowork agent from the Microsoft 365 Agent Store. We can walk you through this end to end on a call.
Is my data safe?
Cowork inherits your existing Microsoft 365 permissions, sensitivity labels, conditional access and DLP policies. It can only see what each user can already see. Every action is logged and auditable. Execution runs inside Microsoft's protected cloud environment.
Can I extend Cowork for my business?
Yes. You can write custom skills as SKILL.md files in OneDrive, up to 50 per user. You can build custom plugins to connect Cowork to line-of-business systems. This is the work we do most often
